Any idea what to use for trailer ramps ?

I have never really had a trailer that I liked the ramps one ,
right now I have 3 car trailers

one has ramps that must weigh 50 pounds each-9 ft long , great ramps but wat to heavy for 2000-2500 lb cars

for the other 2 trailers I use 2 x 10inch wide wood planks that are 8 ft long , but the planks bend some with the weight ,

But I have not found a good way to attach the planks to the trailer ,
right now I just throw a bolt in it and a hole for the bolt in the trailer.....

Anyway any ideas , and what else to use /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My new trailer has slide out ramps so no problem. Previously, I used wood planks with strips of plywood (about 5" wide) glued and screwed to the sides. No bending (with a 1500 lbs Spridget).
 
If money is no object (it is for me) I would use 3/16" aluminum diamond plate, brake formed, with about a 3" leg turned down about 10" between legs. One ramp slightly wider so they can be nested together for storage. Bottom - wedged off to the angle of incline. Top - brake formed width of ramp turned down into a recieving slot to ensure they are square and parallel when attached to the trailer.

Check out Grip Strut https://www.mcnichols.com/products/grating/plank/diamond/ I use it for walkway grating in the plant but it works well for ramps too. It can be aluminum or galvanized; the weights per foot are pretty low for aluminum. As far as attachment, I think there are a lot of options. The nicest is having a storage pocket under the deck like Nial’s trailer, but you can weld on some angle iron to the back of the trailer to form a lip, weld a corresponding angle or channel to the ramp so they can slide side to side for different width cars but are still pretty secure. This part is really specific to your needs and the trailer design.
