I posted on here a while back that a local Dr. brought me his 71B that he bought in 72. Wanted piles of new stuff from Victoria installed. Went and got it, fired it up and when we talked he decided to let me install an o/d trans. pulled the eng and then realized the floors and sills were shot...make that almost missing. Worst I've seen around here. After thinking on it he said no...part it out, sell it...whatever I wanted to do. So its been cluttering my shop and I've decided to pretty much shut down and go in a different direction. This would make a nice winter project...just lots of work. Haven't decided for sure but leaning towards finding it a new home. Before he brought it to me he put big$$$ in it...new bumpers, w/s frame, glass and seal, new tan vinyl interior, top, lites, grill,top...etc. Then he bought complete brake systems, clutch kits, w/s wiper motor, stainless steel brake line kit, blk tonneau,horns...chrome...every brake and clutch part you could buy. other than the underneath the fenders, doors, hood..trunk(with rack is perfect. )Wheels look like new. All these parts are new but all the old stuff still works fine. He was just trying to make it perfect. If anyone would like to talk about this huge pile of stuff...and if your close or passing by..plz call me at 575-693-8810. Thx.

I had the sills and lower doglegs replaced on my GT many years ago. It was a big job but not an impossible one. There are quite a few folks on the forum who've replaced floor panels. Are you sure that those are the only rusted out sections?

No chassis without a LOT of effort.

A hateful but realistic eval. Doesn't make the rest of it less valuable, just a pile to vend.

Seems to me that in New Mexico you could find a rust free shell if you wanted to do a restoration. In ontario repair rust sure, but there? Sounds like vending makes more sense from this perspective. Besides do the jobs you want to do - not the ones you feel obliged to do, even if it did fall into your lap.

this car belonged to a DR. that bought it almost new...less than a year, and his training and then jobs had him all over the US. Thats where the rust came from...not here. Pretty much don't have time or the ambition to fix or part out for that matter. Have decided to pull all ads and give the stuff to a pal that has good luck with E-Bay...let him take care of selling the stuff and scrap the car. Will pull a few large items and say good-bye to the thing. Nothing seems to be selling around here and we're off the beaten path so my A coupe and CGT will more than likely end up the same way.

good call. you don't need the aggravation
