What the right dash - BJ7 MK II

My 1963 MKII BJ7 (#23134)was one of the last MKII's off the line before the switch to the BJ. In fact, it has a BJ 8 dash in it with the glove box. The prior owner insists this is the original dash and that Healey had a practice of simply changing over parts when the ran out of one item or another. He purchased the car from the original owner and has owned the car for the past 30 years so if the dash was changed it would have to have been done only a few years after it came of the line in 1963.

I wonder if anyone else has heard of this happening? Anybody have an MK II with BJ8 dash?

If you can look behind the wood dash you should be able to spot the numbers that should match the one on the fire wall if it is, in fact, original from the factory. After market will not have any numbers.
The Heritage cert. may also show if it had a factory wood dash.
