Just turned on the TV, I'm watching....I don't know what... Some long haired dred locked Swed doing triple jumps, flips turns and landing BACKWARDS.... not once...BUT TWICE !!! His pants can't even stay on this guy is flyin' all over the place so much....

That has to be the most incredible thing I've ever seen.

And what's with the two man luge...? Spandex clad dudes stacked on a giant ice skate... :nonod:
Not really a surprise that 2 German dudes won the gold.
Get your own thingie and go down the chute one at a time like normal people! Geez!

One of my old racing friends, Duncan Kennedy, is the tech director of the US Olympic Luge team.

He says *all* the other Olympic athletes give the two-man Luge teams a hard time. One of the main skills required for two-man luge is being able to take all the abuse from your peers (plus, having a good sense of humor for all the jokes).
It's like being Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer....but you'll never get that foggy night.

Really glad to see the Olympics finally posted here. There have been some spectacular events and winners. I was surprised when Shaun White didn't win a medal. And it's a downer that the terrorism fear evidently held down attendance, and the warm weather continues.

The Olympics are the only thing on our TV when their broadcast. We watch every event we can. We also have it on two channels, letting us switch between events. Of all the events, I think the two man luge is ridicules and wouldn't bother me if it was removed from the Olympics. If they want to run a two man luge, then design a board for two people. Make more sense and safer! :encouragement: JMHO. PJ

Watched most all of it. Sittin here with a planned surgery, cut up foot in the air for another week or more. Hum de dum.
Finally I've gotten beyond waiting for the figure skaters to make a mistake and instead just enjoy their performance. But ski jumping gets closer attention.
Ever notice how all winter olympic events are kinda dangerous and all summer aren't?

I know the biathlon has military roots... but I sure think it's odd. If there was a summer games version, it would surely be "swim a couple of laps in the pool, then get out and strangle someone, repeat" sort of affair. :wink-new:

I always figure, with the biathlon, if you're in second, and you've got a gun.... Well just sayin,

Yall joke about that... but try and fire a rifle with open sights into a bottle cap after swishing around on two boards.

I think the Skeleton is even nuttier than the Luge: You're zooming along at 90 mph head first. Maybe they should combine the Luge and the Skeleton and do it co-ed, the riders would be in a 69 position while zooming down the course.

As long as we're on the subject - just HOW did "Curling" ever get to be
an Olympic event? "Let's get a semi-round piece of marble, put a handle on-
it,& get two people with tiny brooms to sweep in front of it"
Is it a Monty Python skit that someone took seriously?
And are they called "Curlers"?

still beats "ice dancing" - and yes, they are called curlers

Curling, nicknamed (chess on ice), is a very old sport, starting back in the mid 1500s. It takes a tremendous amount of skill to play properly. I enjoy watching it. Not sure who introduced it to the Winter Olympic games, but it is on ice along with other recent introductions , such as the Skeleton. I guess if it can be done on ice or snow, you can make a Winter sport out of it! PJ

The stones are made out of granite, and I'll be watching the Russian team compete.

mehheh. I'd post a glam shot of my Ukrainian dolly, Mitsy... But then I'd need to find a new home.

Those eastern European kids have great genes...
