Is a carb needle with a 224 on it?
 
Yep GG for sure. Now you know I got to know the story.

The set in the other carbs are GG and look just fine.

Now if I can get the adjusting nut not to turn the sleeve. Don't remember having the prob before.

The 224s look fatter than the GGs?
 
2 different companies made the needles. The numbered are/were made in the US, the lettered SU I worked for the US guy making SU parts, back in the early 70s. I've attached the conversion file for some folks. If anyone needs the cross reference, I have it. Peter
 
How come the adjusting nut with the spring above it turns the jet bearing sleeve? What have I done wrong, with out the spring all is fine nut is smooth turning.
 
Got it, I find I only have a one carb back setting at the work bench.

Really helps if you put them together correctly, sigh.

I read somewhere that you can drink a few pints to kill off the slow brain cells and then you will feel smarter. This early in the day, I'd suggest Boddington's.
