I finally decided on my wire wheels and got them ordered. Dayton Chrome 72 spoke 15 inch. What size tires are best?
I have 165 x 15 on my old wheels, but a friend suggested 185's. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. tom

Hi Tom,
What is the width of the rim?

Hey Tom,
Go to Moss Motors website, then wire wheels and they have an excellent chart that shows tire sizes and tire heights - don't want some low profile tires in
the Healey wheel wells - along with the wheel widths. I considered the
Daytons and seem to recall they are 5 inch wide but could be wrong. Regardless,
the Moss info is excellent to use for a guide.
Regards,
Mike

I have 1990 Michelin X 175 x 15 tires. They are no longer available. Where can you get 175 80 15's? I love mine, they fit inside the fenders and fill the wheel wells.

Hi Tim,
I hope you're not driving on those tires. Tire life is about eight years max, so yours expired a minimum of 12 years ago.

Yeah, so I've been told on this forum a number of times. I'm not driving far nor fast. Spring came to Michigan today, but I have not cranked her up yet.

:yesnod: listen to Greg!

The voice of first hand experience says those michlens are going to come apart! :wall: I'm very happy I was not traveling quickly when one did.

Hendrix Wire Wheel was kind enough to service my wheels and put 5 "new" (really new) tyres on, and balance and shave them. I am very happy with their service.

I went back to 165 Michelins on one car and 165 Dunlop SP41s on the other because I found that the spare fit nicely in the trunk, and I preferred originality at the expense of a better ride. Previous owner had larger tires, and the spare rubbed in the trunk. You can probably modify the wooden blocks in the trunk to accept a larger tire. Not sure how big you can go without the rubbing.....
