What rattles your doors?

What is it inside the doors that can make so much noise? I'm going to rebuild mine because they make so much noise just going over even small bumps. I've got the panels off and all the mechanisms removed. Now the door closes quietly. Is it the regulator? The remote opener? The glass in the channel? Or, all three? What are your experiences?
One thing I did notice was the bottom of the door was full of this hard/brittle black substance. I must assume this was the sound deadener because there is a blank patch on the panel where something was affixed. I'm sure that would've made some noise, but not all of it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have felt your pain, Crisis.

I managed to get my doors real quiet and
keep out street noise and asphalt heat as well.
I used a DIY method that worked quite well for me..

Others more experienced than I am, will give you
the proper methods to deal with your issue. The doors
can be made much quieter without much work or cost.

best of luck,

dale(tinster)

PS: post some photos.

Barring something obviously loose -- as in not bolted down tight, etc. -- I would guess most of the noise would come from the glass in the channel and related bits such as the inner and outer seals on the door for the glass.

It's usually the tracks going up and down, but loose regulators and channels will cause it too. Dale probably rebuilt his originals, which is better than replacing the parts with new ones, because the new ones suck. Ask me how I know after two years of new parts in the doors. But I kept my old stuff and the doors may come back apart this summer after some new strips go in the channels.

Paul is correct.
I gutted both doors and refurbished everything;
installed insulation onto the door inner shell.

best regards,

I was getting some noise from the door control arm. It seemed to rattle against the door everytime it was closed. Before I installed the outer panel, I placed some foam rubber between the door control arm and the shell of the door. So far, quiet!
