memories, memories ...

Further proof I was born 50 years (millennia?) late ...

Remember "Stage Door Canteen"?

I just tripped over this and realized I could listen to this song on repeat for a couple of days.

Ironically, I never took them seriously at all until the day I first saw this incredibly, gleefully stupid video and heard that abominable steamroller of a... er... song? I guess?

And if you don't like that video, how about this version:

Grew up listening to Goodman, Miller, Shaw, all the "Big Bands." My mom and her two sisters would harmonize the Andrews Sisters' songs while doing the family Sunday fete dishes. First time I heard Linda R's "Different Drum" I thought my mum was hiding a secret second life.

Shame I didn't inherit the voice talent. If I tried to sing I could scare hungry scavenger buzzards off a carcass...

Ah yes, Cassandra Lasalandra (yep - that was her name).

A voice like a buzz saw.

She was someone I dated in college.
Her voice could be heard for five miles. Sometimes I wonder if she's responsible for the mysterious high-frequency attacks on US embassies.

:jester:

So I'm guessing things didn't completely work out with you and Cassandra? :geek:

Bob Seger is go to CDs for traveling. Man, the miles go by so quickly. Talking with friends about a job so cool that if it became availble you would have to leave a message as to where to send your stuff. One guy thought being quality control guy at the coors brewery. Mine was playing keyboard for Bob Seger.
