What model Healey is this...calling all Eagle Eyes

I found an old Polaroid the other day.
This was taken when I was a child living in Milford CT.
It was taken the day my Father sold the Ford or Mercury sedan for the Healey.
So, for all you eagle eyes out here, what year/model is the Healey?
And if you know Ford/Mercury, what are the other two cars?
The wagon is a Mercury. My guess is it's a 57 or 58 commuter or Voyager?
Let the drum roll begin...

Cheers,
Roger

My guess is a Longbridge built BN4 100-6.

I agree with the BN4 because of the locking door handles.
The Ford is definately a 1953....I think the Merc is a 1957.

Cheers,
Steve

The wagon in the driveway looks a lot like the 1957 Mercury wagon (Voyager, I think) that Dad and Mom had back then. I'm pretty sure that ours was a 2-door station wagon and it was white/yellow two-tone.

Re: What model Healey is this...calling all Eagle

I agree, it's a 1957 BN4 Longbridge built 100-Six ........simliar to mine.

Roger my guess is it is an older model-Keoke ----------

No question about it. Its a Longbridge BN4.

As well as the locking door handle it also has Longbridge side screens. If you look very closely you will see the split bewteen the two pieces of the screens leans towards the front rather than the rear

Roger - tell us more about the Longbridge BN4. How long was it with the family?

Any fond memories, that you can share?
thanks

Dougie- You have that one at the ABFM in Bellevue last fall?

Re: What model Healey is this...calling all Eagle

No, that wasn't me. I do race my '57 100-SIix MM at Pacific Raceway in Kent with SOVREN and PIR in Portland.

Looks like it has a locking drivers side door handle that places it as a 100/6.

What others have said 100/6 BN4. Here is my Dads' BN4 built in March of '58.

You will be entering that picture in next years calendar contest, right?

Barry:

In the picture, does your Dad's BN4 have a Brooklands screen attached to the shroud, and is it outfitted with 4-wheel disc brakes?

Ours was red/white two-tone. Red being the top color. I think ours was a 4 door.

Jim,

With the help of my fellow Healey bothers and sisters here on the BCF, I'm trying to piece together when my dad first got a Healey. My parents have passed on and my siblings just don't seem to take the interest that I do in looking back on when my dad drove the two Healeys. (BN4 then BJ8).

Once I figure out what the time line is for this BN4's, I can paste together how old he was when he bought the BN4.

I don't remember him having the BN4, but the BJ8 I have a lot of memories of. He taught me to drive stick in that car. Bragging rights?

I remember my mother saying he sold the BN4 for a used 64 BJ8. I think he bought the 64 in 65. He sold the BJ8 in 1974 for a 1970 Mustang. Being we lived in CT then MA, and the Healeys were Dad's daily drivers, I remember the BJ8 being so rusted, that when he closed the drivers door, rust would drop from under it. He sold it for it was literally falling apart.

What years were the BN4's made, with the locking door handle?
Could I safely say my fathers was a 57 or 58?

Cheers,
Roger

Re: What model Healey is this...calling all Eagle

Jerry,

Not a Brooklands windscreen, but a home made full width version that served as the screen when the original was removed for weekend races, and was left in place as a bug deflecter when traveling across the country.

Yes Four wheel Dunlop Discs. This picture was taken in '59.

I'd like to know more about the locking door handles also, obviously this car came with it but was built fairly late to have it (BN4LO59608), March '58 according to Heritage certificate which corresponds with him taking delivery in April '58.

Barry - your Dad's BN4 is quite interesting. According to Clausager's book, the last car LHD car with the locking door handle was C47703 in Sept 1957.
It also should be noted that Donald Healey was offering for the 100-Six from his shop in Warwick, disc brakes on all 4 wheels as of Jan 1, 1958.
