Can anyone tell me the correct length and width of fan belt to use on a TR3A with a GM 7127 alternator with the special wide pulley on the alternator? Also it would help if you have a part number and brand name. The original 900 cm (length) generator belt is too short so I bought a 995 cm belt from NAPA thinking it would work, but even that is too short. Before I bought the NAPA belt I looked on the Revington web site and they listed 3 different fan belts for use with alternator, the longest being 1000 cm, but that obviously is not long enough with the GM 7127 alternator. I used a Gates TR24379 and it worked prefect. Not all of the auto parts stores carry it. Bumper to Bumper does have it if you have one of there stores near you. Bob after reading your post again, this one would not work for you either. The size of this one is 3/4" x 38 1/2 " of 19mm X 980mm. It sounds to me like the diameter of the pulley on the alternator is larger than mine.
I bought one of the NAPA 25-24379 and was able to get it to fit, although it was a struggle. It is actually 5/8 inch wide (the package says it is 3/4 inch) and although it is shorter than the first one I bought, it fits because it is narrower and thus goes down more into the grooves of the pulley. To get the 24379 belt on I had to remove the alternator from the mounting bolt and angle the alternator inward to allow the belt to go on the alternator pulley and then force the alternator back to align the long bolt with the mounting hole on the alternator. It's a bit of a struggle, but doable. Regards,Bob
