What kind of idiot could screw up installing a starter motor on an outboard motor? I mean it's just 3 bolts to attach to the block and only ONE wire to the starter.
A one :banana: job if ever there was one.
After the install the dang thing wouldn't even turn over.
Out comes the meter. No juice. Check the fuses. Trace the wiring. Major frustration. Apply aux 12 volts to starter.
It works but no go with the switch. Check the checked the switch.
I give up. Hours wasted. I figure I'll try again tomorrow with a fresh approach.
I go to disconnect the battery. What kind of idiot attaches a
RED wrapped wire to a neg terminal?

Re-attach the positive to the positive terminal.
BINGO...it's good to go!
