What kind of car is this?

It's a Victress S1. Kind of a kit-car, 77 were "factory built" in and around 1955, the bodies were available as kits too. It's fiberglass, and uses a ford coupe chassis (1939-40). That's the first one I've seen with a hardtop though. Cool find! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Here's what they look like "doll'ed up"...

by the way, designed and made in the USA.

I don't think it's a coupe, but a normal S-1A raodster with a removable hardtop. It looks like it's in restorable shape too. Last one I helped identify had big holes in it from the fiberglass rotting away.

Also, they made an S-5 that looks very similar too (probably from the same molds), but was a rebody kit for an MG TD.

Here's a very informative site... with lots of cool pictures:

click Byers and Victress information, about 6 down directly in the middle.

Very cool car, keep me posted if she ever does get in contact with the owner.
