One can only wonder what the fine for the late return on those scrolls will be!

Don't disrespect kerosene lamps though....I have 1/2 dozen of them that are bright enough to read by (and you need to wear brazing goggles to observe the burn pattern), plus they are good for about 2500 BTU each of heat which was really welcome during the ice storm a month ago.

tsk tsk - never put a cast iron pot over an open fire! Set it on the coals below. Pot doesn't get burned up outside, and the heat is spread slowly and more evenly.

As noted, TV antenna. And yes I still do over the air rather than a bunch of subscription services.

Gas push mower, least round here I seem to be the only one as folks hire services all around me.

Print on paper books seem to be a dying breed also.

Cash is dying too, I get weird looks using it and folks who tell me that phone apps are so much more convenient.

Mike - had to chuckle at your last comment. Sure, phone apps are convenient - for the person who gets paid. For us mere mortals, many companies use different payment systems. Cash and checks are (or used to be) universal. Do I really want to give my financial information to:

venmo
quickbooks
amazonpay
square
applepay
stripe
payoneer
zelle
skrill
and of course, paypal

I still pay bills by snail mail and checks, most local store purchases by cash. Mainly as noted to avoid having my financial and personal info scattered across the world. We all know that protection of personal info at all those apps and store sites and such is well, less than ideal.

And another thing disappearing or gone depending on your viewpoint, paper photos and old 8mm home movies. Yes digital may be easier to share, but I do wonder what will happen to them 100 years from now when whomever in a family may have had them isn't here anymore and subsequent generations don't know where they are, or the storage device fails or is obsolete and can't be read or some other such thing. I have 100s of old family photos I've been working on labeling, with complete names, making copies for the extended family and trying to ensure that years from now folks won't be wondering who everyone is.

How will the next generation share their parents memories, letters, etc. if the paper is no longer used, and no longer exists.

Have to chuckle - sadly - when friends say "Look at the great pictures of Sarah's graduation". Then have to scroll through hundreds of tiny images, find what they want, and show them to friends on a 3x3 screen, sliding left and right, up and down. Like dumping the old family albums on the floor, and trying to find the photos they want from ten feet away.
