Nice work, Dale!
I would be sailing if I had the money to buy a small boat, until then keeping in shape by running.
Simon.

Very nice work, Dale. Real artistry there.

I'm an outdoors sort -- hike (my favorite), mountain bike, camping. Those and the Bugeye are my hobbies.

Two other passions in my life, though, that I can't call a hobby as they go a bit beyond that. The first is motorcycles, even though I'm between bikes at the moment. I would survive without the Bugeye (though sadly), but just can't be without a bike for very long. There's just something about riding.

My real passion in life is music -- I play in a couple groups (jazz, rock/funk, aoustic/bluegrass), write, play a couple instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin, piano, vocals). I'll be playing until I physically can't anymore. Music has been the central facet of my life since I was a wee thing, and goes way beyond a hobby for me. I *do* lots of things, but I *am* a musician.

I love Civil War Reenacting, firearms collecting and shooting, model railroading and of course my LBC.

Regards John

Mine are working on my MG, collecting and restoring antique radios, amateur radio, beer making, and dabbling in music. My wife and I have a canoe my parents gave us as a wedding gift, and we've used it a few times. We go bicycling, and we have a tent camper we go camping in.

I have about 15 antique radios, ranging from one built in 1924 to one built in 1953. I've got two console radios from 1935 and 1936, and I think those two are my favorites. Right now I'm restoring a 1926 Atwater Kent radio, and my father in law is helping to machine some new tuner pulleys for it.

I never got really proficient at any one musical instrument, but I'm learning guitar right now. To date I've played violin, viola, piano, recorder, and guitar is the most recent one. My viola is actually older than any of my radios; it was made in 1920 and belonged to my grandfather.

Playing guitar (two fender strats and a ibanez acoustic) and doing custom picture framing (did this for 25 years as a profession, only do it when I feel like it now, except for commercial jobs).

Tennis, Snow Skiing, Golf and watching "Speed" on TV.

Russ

Beautiful work Dale,
I used to paraglide (for about four years), rock climbing and taking photographs. I like tinkering, right now, besides restoring my Healey, I’m doing an inverted fork conversion on my motorcycle. Here’s an oldish photo I took. The only handy one on my computer of a hobby of mine.

:thumbsup: Wow, I'm impressed. Do you want to visit the Land of Enchantment? We could consider a tradeoff. Room and Board for a little bit of tile work? Huh? What do you say? Please!

Seriously that's some awesome tile work!

Oh, yes - hobbies. Besides driving our LBC's, photography, cooking, antiques, refurbishing when necessary antiques including but not limited to 50's gas pumps, furniture, etc. Also like to write, dabble on the piano, fly with husband (he lets me take-off but no landings) and gamble but probably shouldn't say that. Oh well sometimes I just let thoughts fall tripingly off my tongue or fingers on the keyboard.

I'm retired & wish I had time for a hobby!

Really interesting stuff, guys!

I sold a small business a few years ago and took a "govment" job and now work a 40 hour per week (and not an hour more, thank you!). I used to work 70+/7 days for many years, so the extra time is fabulous.

Hobbies:

> I serve on a couple of boards for charity orgs, one local, one state. They keep telling me that I'm needed, so I go;

> I'm a USTA 4.5 tennis player and have played competitively for 35+ years. I'm playing less since recent foot surgery, the ranking is descending, and I'll probably hang up the racquet soon;

> I'm an "adventure rider" motorcyclist, ride the trails in the mountains (relatively slowly, I let the fast guys go ahead). I camp out with other, local riders in summer: more fun than a barrel of monkeys and most of them are car nuts, too;

> Bird watching: nature has blessed central VA with a wide range of raptors, with bald eagles nesting right here! Their athleticism, power and speed is awesome, wonderful. Wee woman & I take bird watching trips several times each year up in the Blue Ridge & Allegheny mountains. Recharges the batteries;

> Travel to Europe with wee woman. We go over the pond every year, always a thrill beyond measure.

As soon as my new garage is built this summer, I'm getting another LBC. It's been too long, it's the one thing I anticipate most of all. Can't wait!

The cup runneth over, I think. :yesnod:

WOW, this is a great thread. We get to know a little more about the people that we 'converse' with each day.

I have several other hobbies that keep me occupied. I like to do watercolor painting. I'm also into photography. I like large format. 4x5 and 8x10. My 4x5 camera I built myself. I used that to take the picture of the Brooklyn Bridge. I also dabble in cabinet making. The cabinet pictured has a coppered door. It's made from black walnut and the drawer is pearwood. Hand cut dovetails. It's my own design, but inspired by the cabinetry of James Krenov.

Impressive! There are so many different hobbies here we could have a self-sustaining economy!

Aside from my TR and "obsolete technology projects", I do volunteer work for the local hospital and a family services agency (domestic abuse issues), plus at the New England Air Museum, and Old Sturbridge Village.

Work is something you *have* to do. All else is a hobby. Here's another guy's example:

I was trained in Architecture but the market did not allow me to do it as a living so I did something else. I got back into it a few years back and actually get paid for it in my spare time (what little I have). Old school for the Design/builder I work for. We are working towards using the PC but there is something much warmer about using pencil and mylar. I also work on my house as I don't like the work most people can perform. I do it all but really like finished trim. Recently me and the family started hiking and climbed MT. Washington. We are off to do it again this summer. I am also a drummer and have been plaing for about 27 years although I have not for the past 6 months because of knee surgery. Of course there are the MG's which now take up the majority of my time.

...Well sailing ( racing) was my life, work, and hobby for 3o+ years, then I took up SCCA racing and gave all that up when I moved to New Mexico, now sking in the winter, LOTS of travel, cars and now my current job is my "hobby" as its part time and can telecommute. Life is good!

I work alot, unfortunately. But I also teach adult Sunday School, serve as chairman of the Career & Technical Education Advisory Council for the local public school system, do a little lawn and garden work, and am active in the local Miata club.
