What is your daily driver?

My daily driver car is a TOYOTA Fourrunner 1991 Acquired used in the 1996 and already fully road worthy today nearest its 400000 km
when the TOYOTA was 20 years old we have a extensive raid (15 days) in the TUNISIAN SAHARA DESERT

at the return (just the day when TUNISIA riots begins) a a partial restoration was made, all two front wings,(partial rusty)

Andrea, thanks for the photos from your "raid." They brought many memories back into focus as I lived in Tunisia 1998-2000, in Sidi Bou Said (formerly Carthage). I also visited the Sahara, but my accommodations were not so luxurious: I slept in the back of a Toyota Land Cruiser.

I would love to return to Tunisia, but I'm not sure that they are completely ready to welcome tourists again. I would most want to visit the Roman city ruins again, and perhaps the Chemtou quarry. I have several marble fragments from that quarry.

Hi Reid
When I pass trough Sidi Bou Said - for the Ferry berth -I meet a lot of strange person near the residence of the Premier-at arrival at Genoa I know that Arab Spring was begin- first days of 2010
I agree with you, NOT READY (and Advisable)FOR TOURIST- some my friends (motorcyclists)returned at beginning of 2013-but was dangerous especially in the interior of the desert -where they meet very few groups
Cheers

This one caught a little bit of snow overnight!

...so did my daily driver...

When in Vermont during summer & fall, my BJ7 is my daily driver. In Miami, it's my 2014 Carrera S Coupe. When we go to Sanibel, I drive my '61 TR3A around the island.

Approaching 10 years of daily driver service, I'm thinking about retiring the 330i. The two leading contenders are the Mustang GT and the M235i. I find that many people are cross shopping these two cars. I also find that many people just don't get the comparison. People are funny.

My daily driver this summer and so far most of the spring is
winter drive3.jpg

Completed an engine rebuild over the winter by way of practice for the 100

I consider the 2 cars book ends. The 100 represents the start of the affordable modern looking British sportscar, the late model rubber bumper B the demise and the end of an era. My B is somewhat hotter than stock, a blast to drive and was really cheap.

I drive a 2000 Miata (bought new) most of the Winter. For real bad weather, I used my Chevy Express cargo van.

In Summer, mostly a '69 MGB. I also rack up about 500 miles each on a '73 Midget and a Super 7.

If Mommy drives, we mostly take a 4 year old Accord. :rolleye:

My DD is a '08 Mustang GT (Bullitt edition). It only has 315HP but that's enough to allow me to merge, intimidate, etc. in thick, aggessive SF Bay Area traffic.

I buy American products when possible, but that's just me.

Still hauling projects home with my purchased new 2000 F150, with 200K miles.

I also like North American products, although of course Healeys are right up there too. The North American products do seem to have improved a lot in recent years. The 2004 GMC 2500 SLT 4x4 comes in handy for pulling the trailer with Healeys - four within the past year. The year before, it brought home a 1954 Studebaker Starliner that spent most of its life in South Carolina and then in Florida. It also comes in handy for transporting my other interests, including C1 and C2 Corvettes and big block Chevys. And then there's the '99 Mustang SVT Cobra that also only comes out on sunny, warm days. (Does it sound as if I have a problem yet?) When the snow blows and the roads get icy, we drive the AWD Lincoln MKS.

Here are a few pics of the Starliner - the second one is of the car as it arrived in Montana where I picked it up. While it is a survivor with an excellent frame and body, it did need all new wiring, and few things worked on it. Someone had begun the 6 volt to 12 volt conversion but not finished it, and various parts had seized with age. Completing the conversion and getting everything working kept me occupied for a few winter months.

My Daily Driver. Halloween run 2014.jpg

Not our usual dress code, but this was for the Halloween Rally. 68 Austin Mini. 1380 engine. Fast!
Going to the gym in it in 30 min.

My daily driver is a Dodge Journey, provided to me by my company. It's a totally boring vehicle and I'd never own one myself.

I have a 2003 1/2 ton Chevy pickup that's used to tow/haul Healey parts around. My wife's new Prius also occasionally hauls Healey parts, as well as groceries.

My daily driver is a Ferrari Enzo...............oh wait, that's the one in my dreams. In reality doesn't get much more boring but is a Prius ! I know, OMG, a car guy with a Prius but still averaging over 50 mpg with 50,000 miles on it. Trust me only got it because of the mpg, not to make some green statement. That 50 mpg helped pay for the overdrive and tranny rebuild last year that cost too many $$$. If I didn't have the Healey would have to turn in my "car guy" badge !!!

A Clownshoe? I hadn't heard that before. The Z3 BMW is pretty interesting as the prices are well under $10 grand for a six cylinder . You're hard pressed to find a really decent MGB for that. I take it that by owning two of them Randy , they are pretty good cars? How are they for a bigger guy ? 6'2" 245 lb. ?

Oh and my daily driver is a 2014 Chev . Silverado with the Z-71 off road package and 4 WD ( work truck). The older I get the more I kinda like having anti lock brakes , air bags etc. , heck I'm not the only one on the road half paying attention !

Prices seem to be on a march upwards, at least for the ///M varieties, if at a glacial pace, so if you want one...

I've seen some pretty big guys__exceeding your specifications for both parameters__that are quite happy with them. There are a few tricks to gain a little more seat travel and legroom/angle than the way they come from the factory.

A couple days ago, it looked like a clownshoe festival here, as jobs were overlapping; I loaded the black one onto a transporter last night, heading for Chicago, and the owner of the silver one is flying in on Sunday to drive his back to North Carolina. The Coupes are on a solid trajectory to higher ground, with an S-52 version ('99-00) just having sold for well over $50k! Granted, it was a desirable one, with no sunroof and under 10k miles, but still! The S-54 engine'd Coupes ('01-02) are hard pressed to get that, given the same mileage and condition. If you fancy a Coupe version, I'd recommend that you don't dawdle (naterally, hi-mileage, and cars with prior crash damage will always be available for less, but the average number of units for sale has halved in the past 4 months).

The M235i looks really interesting, but I'm a little disappointed to see it only comes with a flappy paddled 8 speed auto. I'd think the "Ultimate Driving Machine" would still provide a manually shifted option. Another one like this is the Alfa Romeo 4C. Maybe the new autos can outperform the manuals, but they sure don't seem as much fun even with the ability to control upshifts and downshifts with the auto.

I usually take one of these. Mostly the middle one, (1st pic). It's been my daily summer driver for over 30 years. When this pic was taken the Healey was in the back room still under restoration.
Now it is time for the C-3 to get redone. New locally built 383 cu in, 467hp, 490 lb-ft torq, dyno'd
just got set in last week-end. I'm going to go stalking my brother-in-law's Boss Mustang when its done. :smile-new: Can't help it, I've just always liked Chevys, and MGs, and Healeys, and Morgans, and etc.
