What is this part?

Pull off the Brake Drum and this big nut holds the Left Rear Axle Shaft in place. Note these come both LH and RH thread. So on that day when you need to pull an axle to replace an axle seal because it is leaking all over your rear drums, the rules of Rightey Tightey, Lefty Loosey are reversed when you are working on the Left Side of the Car.

Oh and a good source for a socket to fit this sized nut is your local Tractor Supply store. $7-8 vs. > $20 from Sears.
