Back to plan one. I am having the machine shop weld the worn area and turn on a lathe. $40-60. Paid for by the US Government economic stimulus check.

Now what else can I spend the rest of that money on? Hmmmm

Ray: That's a lot of work. Why not sleave the thing. Also, you might consider oilite bushing. They would last forever!

McMaster sells a 12" piece of 5/8" oil hardening drill rod for less then $7. Easy enough to machine the circlip grooves. You could harden if you want, but IMHO, I don't think that would even be neccessary.

Thanks for the offer, but it is to late as the shop has already started work on it. I guess I have to learn not to act so impulsively.
