Just acquired some old colour slides, this particular photo intrigues me, there is a brown sports car that doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before (the photo was taken in the United States in 1970), unless not having the bumpers on it obscures the identity of it... Any thoughts?

I know it's not that important, just curiosity that's all... :excitement:

And here's a link to the full-size scan of the image - https://www.flickr.com/photos/sherlock77/8513966587/sizes/o/in/pool-327213@N25/

This is either a Renault Caravelle or a rear-engine Devin (a kit car that usually has a Corvair engine).
It's hard to tell without a better shot.
The first photo below is the Renault and the second photo (with "Herbie") is the Devin.
We're having dinner with our friends Jerry and Fran next weekend. They own the Devin-Corvair prototype that Bill Devin built (it's gorgeous).

It is about to drive off a curb.

Could be a Renault, I had thought of Fiat 850 but something doesn't look quite right...

Good call on the Renault Nial!
The shape of the bonnet, the windscreen and the pleating behind the seats look like a match (to me)

Yup, looks like a Caravelle with some crudely repaired nose damage to me. Here's a bit of a closeup of the mystery car (click on the image for a larger view)

I think we're all agreed on Renault Caravelle, somehow I was hoping it would be something slightly more exotic or rare... :highly_amused:

And one more old slide from the same batch, Chicago traffic (ca. 1965)

Not sure I can concede Caravelle - it sure looks like a grille. Has a Moretti look to it - though no hood scoop

My first thought was Fairthorpe!

I can see why but I think the Fairthorpe mouth is too small (as indeed is the whole car)

Caravelle. With a bit of extemporaneous George Barris Bondo added.
