Knute Rockne died in 1931, before the 32 Studebaker/Rockne went for sale. He had just been appointed by Studebaker as director of marketing. Interesting that Rockne's death, in the crash of a Fokker F-10, spurred Douglas and Boeing to create an all-metal airplane, safer than the Fokker. Their research led to the Boeing D-247, and the Douglas DC-3 (DC-1, DC-2, DST).
