what is the short drive shaft?

Mixed in my TR3 parts I found this short drive shaft. Don't remember where I got it. On the left is a normal TR3 shaft for comparison. Any opinions on what Triumph it belongs to?

I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing maybe one is for non-overdrive transmission, and the other (short) is for overdrive. The definitive answer will arrive shortly...
 
TR's use the same driveshafts for overdrive as non-overdrive. Spitfire's (or at least the Mk3's) have different length driveshafts for overdrive versus non-overdrive.
