I removed the speedo and tach, when I took out the glass there is a steel ring it sits into. What is the color supposed to be on this ring. At present the black paint is flaking off so I am unsure if it should be matt or gloss?.

Also, who sells the correct shape rubber ring that sits on the metal ring and supports the glass?. One of the gauges had a rubber ring on both sides of the glass. The inside ring was smaller in crossection than the outside ring. My parts manual only shows 1 ring in each gauge.

I have a 1960 BN7.

Hi Bundyrum,

My ring is painted matt black.

There should be 3 rubber rings.

One on each side of the glass.
Once the chrome ring is on the barrel, a rubber ring will be between that and the dash.

BCS may sell the rubber rings.

You may also try Palo Alto Speedometer. They just rebuilt all my guages and put new rubber in.
