MGC What is my 69 MGC Roadster really worth

Please be honest !!
I plan on restoring my 69 MGCGT (Green), but the Roadster is 4th on my priority list. Over the last year, I have been torn between selling it, keeping it and/or pulling the C parts off it and giving the rest to salvage (or people needing misc parts).

Anyway, it is pretty rusty and has some parts missing (Dist, Carbs, 1 seat, etc.), but has (IMO)some good parts. The car hasn't been on the road since the late 70's and has like 40-60 on the odom.

Anyway, I think I have to close my eyes and slowly push it onto Ebay and if that fails start to pull the things I want and scrap the rest.

It's hard for me to place a realalistic price on the car since I have had it for sometime now and just don't have to heart to part it out.

What do you all think?

It is rough but a real shame not to preserve such cars. I would be hard pressed to part with it also. If you are doing most of the work then it wil not cost as a much but if you plan to have professional shops do all the work then - ??????

My opinion - keep it - restore it.

Sorry, in my opinion that's a parts car.
The problem is there is nt a straight, rust-free panel anywhere on the car.
To restore this would be a labour of love, without regard for the costs. If you look at it that way, o.k. It would be a nice, and rare car when you're finished, but it may cost $20,000 to do it properly.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif A labour of love indeed. Two replies so far, two different opinions. I suppose it all really depends on how attached you are to this car. If it was bought just to fix up and make money on, it is doubtful that you will ever be able to do that. But if it has emotional ties to you, or you want to restore and drive it just for the heck of it, then keep and restore it. I agree that there is not a straight or rust-free panel anywhere on the car, and if it were an MGB then I would say part it out and have done with it, but it's not, and that makes a difference. I read of a guy in the UK who bought a Heritage body shell, had his restorer repair the inner wings and front end off his rotten MGC, and transplant these to the perfect shell. Not suggesting you do that, but you could. Buy a reasonably good MGB tub, get it repaired, then swap the unique front end off the 'C' over, after getting them repaired, of course. It would take a good body man to do that, but then you would need a good one to fix the existing car. Just my two cents' worth. I wish you success.

Thank you for your replies !!

So far, it has been a hard decission for me to make as far as what to do with it.

Yes, it needs a lot of work. I had planned on learning how to weld and do body work on it, since I figured it would need every single panel touched and maybe some fabrication. I do everything myself. I don't farm out any work unless I don't have to tool for it.

I had/have lots of ideas and dreams, but reality is, is that I will probably never get to it and it seems money is getting tighter and tighter.

Thanks again and again, it you all's opinions, what is it really worth?

Nothing?
Dollar?

I know I can make some money by parting it out, but can I actually go outside and start taking it apart ?! :/

Value? A couple of hundred, tops in its present condition. Parted out (if the engine and tranny are any good) then in the region of about $1500 or so.....depends what other parts may still be useable.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would keep it and at least preserve it! I would probably get it on the road and drive it...and eventually fall so much in love with it, that I would restore it. But that is just the way I feel about the 69 MGC...my first LBC was a 69 B and someday I will have a project C if I can get one.

How much do you want to get out of it? and how far from the PA line are you??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
