What is a 68 sprite worth?

Well, I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that I don't have the time to keep my MK IV sprite around. I haven't driven it in over a year now and with my work schedule, it doesn't look like I'll have large blocks of time for many months to come.

Therefore, I'm wondering what my car is worth. It is a very good condition, running (at least when I put her in storage) 68 sprite in a deep red color.

The only major change I made was putting in a 3.9 rear end. The owner before me added speakers to the rear deck and resprayed the car (can still see the original orange in corners of the engine bay).

So, with this limited information, what's the car worth? Where have people had good luck selling? This is a hard decision, but it's not really the right time in my life to own 3 cars.

BEN

PS. I also have a Datsun B210 tranny (5 speed) that I'll put up for sale once the car is going to be sold for sure.

depends on how much rust/bodywork is under the paint. If it was close to me, then I'd tell you it was only worth $50. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

From Collector Car Market Review:

#5: $750 , #4: $2050, #3: $3800, #2: $6400, #1: $8300

Most good quality drivers would fall in the #4 - #3 category. A #1 is a perfect gold standard show car, #5 is rough but not a parts car.

It's very location dependent. There's what looks to be a nice '71 for sale locally here for $2500. Best bet is to peruse eBay and look for completed auctions on Spridgets. This seems to give a pretty good idea what the national market is doing.

Well thanks for the replies so far. I'd personally wager it's a (EDIT) 2.5 <-> 3. It's no where near show condition, but structurally solid and driving. If anybody wants to look at the craigslist sprite search link above, there's one in Renton for 2500. I'd easily say mine is in much better cosmetic condition than that one (can't say mechanically).

I'm going to guess $3500. Does that sound reasonable?

I'll probably list her tonight (when I can find some pictures) and post the link here. I'd like this to go like a ripping off a bandaid, quick...

Well, this shows how much time I have for hobbies. I finally got out to my storage unit this weekend and snapped some pictures (as well as checked her over). I've placed the ad here too: https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/car/456326338.html

I tried to keep it short, if anybody knows somebody looking for a good fun car (that doesn't need to be torn down) pass it along please. Once she goes, I also have a 5sp datsun transmission (rebuilt) that I'll sell for a reasonable price.

Thanks,

Ben
