What have you done to your TR to improve it

Thanks Peter, the pic makes it clear.

the Diff was a BMW unit from ebay. $120 to my door. I got a second one for half that. Everyone wants the 4.10 ratios and the 2.93 is give away pricing there. Believe me,the engine has LOTS of power to make a 2.93 move. The drivehshaft is 23 inches x 2 1/2 diameter.
I wanted the LSD to limit the nasty torque steer I was likely to experience with an open diff during shifts. It was a challenge to setup and install. I would suggest to setup some very good measuring points under the car and with the diff. You should be good to go as long as you stay true to equal measurements. I have to admit I had my fingers crossed things would work out. It turned out to be setup just right. NO vibration from 5-120 mph.

I've posted pics of the engine install, diff and rear end before. I had recently picked up a 4.10 BMW diff with the hopes of swapping it out to see what kind of damage I could do to my tires. I have yet to take it to the 1/4 strip - it's still rainly/cold in Alb.

Next step is to finsh up the body work and put a paint job on it. Still looking for a home for the old engine, diff, radiator, seats, tranny, hardtop, air conditioner, ....

Oh, btw, SBC, 600 cfm holley, 58 cc aluminum heads/header, roller rockers, 700r4 tranny w/od, foam sound/temp insulated under carpet all interior (very quiet). I even replaced the cardboard gas tank cover with a steel one. I rejetted the carbs for the high elevation here(much nicer to ride without smelling un burned fuel....)

details, details...

Jeff

my wife took it out this last weekend for the first time since the conversion. She really liked it!!!!!!!! Aint' nothing like that smile when she decided to let it go.
I liked the whooooo, whooooo!!!
...happy hubby

To improve my TR7 DHC, I have removed and trashed the anemic drivetrain, suspension and brakes, replaced the rear with Jaguar. The front suspension will be Porsche 944 Turbo. Engine will be LS1 with T56 and will initially drive it normally aspirated while I build a short block for the turbos.

Basically, the only thing that will still be Triumph will be the body shell and dash and part of the wiring harness. I just wish I had the time and extra cash flow to get it done quick.

It will look almost identicle to the red one in my sig except for being Titanium Silver with a Navy Blue canvas top.

That is awesome & your web site is excelent as well. The 7 is a tough call with a lot of enthousiasts but the wheel flares & better stance makes the car look great. They probably would have sold a ton more if they took more styling Q's from you.
Nice car

Thanks Mitch, but I can't take credit for the styling Q's. I got the idea of the steel flares from pics of Mark Grinnall TR7's, like the one in my sig. He is now building 3 wheeled cars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif and no longer does anything with TR's. Grinnall Specialist cars website

The pics below are Grinnall's final version of the wedge. He basically rebuilt the body to his own design out of steel.

Notice and look closely, the only part of the body he didn't redesign was the hood, headlights and windshield frame.

Hi,

Brembo makes Alfin brakes for TRs, too. Direct fit with no modification, but a little hard to find. I'm waiting on a set right now.

It sounds like you got a set of 240Z drums, which need the mods you mention. I believe the drum is a little too deep, too, might need a little machining on the edge to properly clear the backing plate.

You can check it all pretty easily. There are schematics with all dimensions marked, for both the TR brake drum and the 240Z brake drum, on Brembo website.

Cheers!

Alan

Just the usual, I changed everything.
Oh, and specifically:
SS Falcon headers (6-3-2) with stainless 10" flex connectors to hook up to the Falcon dual sport exhaust, which I rigid mounted. The flex gives me plenty of vibration room for the engine to move around. I had Stainless Specialties make these 3x8" tips to make the rumble bellicose. Much smoother than the previous and temporary Monzas.

I improved the bonnet latch with a never-fail lever arm.
And again, every nut and bolt in the car has been taken down but I did not pull the body from the frame. The car is a driver with noticeable wear and tear. That's what keeps me busy.
Oh, and gotta rechrome the darn bumpers next.
Bill
