I'm starting to look for a new Spitfire, and I ran across a guy who says he's got a 1969 Spitfire but doesn't know anything about cars. This is the picture he sent me. Looks to me like it's got a GT6 bonnet on it. Anybody know if that's a common thing to do, or is this more likely a Spit6 somebody created? I'm trying to pull more info out of the guy, but it's like pulling teeth. Anyway, even if it is a Spit6, it's not something I want, but it intrigued me to possibly find a Spit6 in the hands of somebody who has no clue what he's got.

The reflectors and high-back seats do give this away as a 1969 model Spitfire Mk3, with a matching-year GT6 bonnet. Only lifting that bonnet can confirm what's underneath, but either way the car looks to have some good potential. GT6 bonnets have gotten darned scarce, so that alone (assuming it's as nice as it looks) would be worth a fair amount of money.

Still haven't been able to get anything useful out of this owner, but he seems eager to be rid of it. I've already purchased a different Spitfire, so I don't have any designs on it, other than still being extremely curious if it's really a Spit6 or not.

The car is near Springfield, MA if anybody else has any interest or is close enough that they want to swing by and help this guy figure out exactly what he's got and how to get rid of it. Might be a steal, or it might be a nightmare, dunno.

Let me know and I can send you the guy's contact info. Oh, and just to be clear, I'm not trying to put up a subtle ad for this car. I don't have any financial interest in this car, or even know the owner other than a few emails sent. Really all I'm hoping is somebody will go over there and end my curiousity /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
