Has anyone already done this and does anyone see any value in this. There is a large triangular void between the firewall and the foot/passenger side of the firewall. What about filling it with aerosol foam? Noise and heat reduction? Future condensation and rust reduction? There are little rubber caps which seal this area which VB nor Moss seem to carry.

Wondering????????

You're almost correct but filling it with foam will be "Future condensation and rust reduction ENHANCEMENT"!!!

Where exaxctly is that place? Got photos?

I thought that might be the case but many of the new forms are wet resistant so I thought maybe????

Yeah, but it won't keep all the water out - it'll just allow it to stay in place longer.

Have you considered Waxoyl as a treatment? I don't know if Dinitrol is available in the US, but they make various forumlations, one is meant to penetrate any existing rust and stop it. Others are more like conventional undercoating and stonechip coatings.

Yeah, I know the area you mean....the area "behind" the footboard.

I'd clean it as best as possible and try to spray some "cold galvanizing" spray paint in there (You can get it various places. I've seen in at Home Depot).

Or you could try ~Pickex metal Prep~ (I have no experience with this, but it's been higly recommended to me).

Then, afterward, use a liberal amount of Waxoyl (or Dinitrol).

I have already thoroughly coated and treated the area, I do not have a problem with that. I was just wondering about reducing sound and noise by filling it now with foam but I had the same concern Tony pointed out regarding the holding of possible condensation.

Some early Mini's had foam injected into the internal crossmember under the front seats. Guess what, it was a major source of rusting problems! :frown:
