Hi MG guys and girls. I've drifted over here from the Triumph forum looking for a favor. An old high school friend has a 1952 TD that she would like to sell. The car was restored in the 70's and has been in a garage and not run in 20 years.
It has about 50+thousand miles on it and the engine has been rebuilt (not the original). The engine bay is not as neat as the rest of the car.I have no financial or other interest in it and have not seen it. It is in CO. Any thoughts or sugestions would be appreciated.

Hard to say without more photos but after a tune-up and replacing all the hoses I'd say around $12K, assuming it's still a TD engine. Should be a fairly tidy car at that price without any major issues.

If I don't say it, I'm not sure anyone else will, so . . .

"I don't think it's worth very much! In fact, they might have to pay a scrap hauler to take it away. And ya'know, since I'll be in the neighborhood with a truck, I'll do you the favor of hauling it away . . . ".

Just kidding of course. That's a cute car, and I'll go along with Steve S's estimate.

I can be there in about 18 hrs drive time.
Just put it on my old charge card.
 
After seeing the added photos, I stick by my original estimate assuming the car is made to run and be reliable. That probably means rebuilding the braking system and replacing all the rubber bits in the brakes, cooling and fuel systems.

As it sits right now, with no idea if the engine is any good, I'd say more like $9500-$10K. A rebuild on an XPAG engine by a specialist can easily run thousands of dollars. I just finished rebuilding one and it was nearly 2 grand in parts alone.
 
Running $12k would be fair price. Values are not as high if not running. It will pay you to get it running and drivable. I saw one at Auction recently that looked as good but not running. It went for $7500. I quit at $7200
