What do you recommend for tires?

I'm looking for a set of 225/60 R15 for a beemer. Does anyone have any recommendations on tires for it. It had Dunlops on it and they are shot. The spare is a brand new Pirelli P600 225/60 ZR 15.

I'd like some performance, not a ton of noise and be good in all weather conditions in case I get caught in the occasional snow storm.
 
Just so happens I sell tires to BMW Dealers. sorry wholesale only! lol But in that size I would suggest the Michelin MXV4. Great tire, H rated, but they are getting a little hard to find.

There is also a Conti, in that size that is factory approved thats a bit cheaper.
 
I'm replacing 225/50R15, and was looking for 215/60R15. I didn't find anything good enough so I'm getting 205/60R15 track day tires.

The 225's I'm replacing are Bridgestone Potenza S-02. I was really happy with them overall, but the size wasn't quite right for the car.

We have Dunlop 235/50R17 on my wife's car and they're really nice.
 
The P600 is the spare. I'm going with the Dunlop SP HR4 225/60 HR15 All season High Performance. It's a decent deal at $70 per installed.
 
Dunloops seem to wear faster than Michelins, IMO. 'course it's been a while since I shod any of my cars with 'em. :shrug:
 
Found the dunlops on a different car didnt deliver on grip in the wet, with michelin, nice grip and no warning of letting go!, best I had before was Bridgestone cloth rads, good grip, but didnt last too long, I'll see how the Pirellis go
 
I was always a die-hard Michelin fan until I tried their latest offerings. The Energy line is pure garbage. Fantastic grip, flimsy construction. I was actually afraid of losing control of my car on the freeway from all the tire flex. Returned them and bought Bridgestones, which I normally hate! Funny how things change.
 
One thing I've learned in my short time in the tire business is that the same tire can peform differently on various cars. So much depends on the accleration, braking and cornering cornering characteristics of each car and suspension set up. In other words, what might be great on one car is crappy on another and blanket statements about a particular tire brand really don't hold up under close examination.

Agreed, but the Energy tires I tried were extremely flexy, and this was on a 2,200 pound car. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone driving over 40 MPH.
 
Michelins. I've got the "HydroEdge" ones on the Alfa, 185/70's. They work great in the wet, they seem to be lasting well too... Herself's Benz has the "Harmony" ones. feh. They're round and black. Only time they got a workout was the three laps of Sebring we did in the ol' lump. Otherwise they're "just tires". I do prefer putting Michelins on what I count on as transport, what She drives for grocery gettin'.
 
I recently got to tour the Micheliin Plant in Greenville, SC. It's a pretty amazing process to watch. This particular plant makes 23,000 tire a day! And each and every Michelin that rolled off the line was hand inspected. Kinda hard to believe! Dudes, were standing there, hand feeling every tire, looking for blems and listening to their Ipods! lolol
 
May well be, Pat! They ride like rocks... my butt is still sore from the Miami trek last weekend. :wink:

Dont see why not, that a pretty common size for BMW.

I have 255/35R18 Bridgetsone RE040s on the back of mine.
It is the factory fitment.
