What do you call a Yugo with dual exhausts?

Crikey!

FWIW, there was a dealer running ads on the radio in WVA back around '89-90 that had a slew of leftover Yugos - $500 a pop. That pretty much made it officially a disposable car

I once borrowed a friend's Yugo (don't remember why). I remember how I felt I was driving something with all the structural rigidity of a soda can!

Never messed with one (car), but the "Yugo hardware" I have here is top notch!

Did you hear about the Yugo used in a
push-by shooting?
They have rear window defrosters so you
can warm your hands while pushing it in the Winter.
You can double the value of one by filling
up the gas tank.

Q. What comes with every Yugo User's Manual?
A. The bus schedule.

Q. How do you fix a broken Yugo?
A. 1) Lift off the radiator cap.
2) Push off cliff.
3) and drive brand-new one underneath radiator cap.
(30-mile/3-day warranty included!)

Knew a guy who had acquired a barely used, low mileage Yugo back in the day (I don't know how, I'm reasonably sure he got it in trade for mowing a lawn or something). I was always amazed at just how fast that thing was-because you can go awfully darn fast if you truly don't care about your car!

There's a recent book called Yugo: The Rise And Fall Of The Worst Car In History. It makes for some fascinating reading-there were a lot of machinations going on in the process of bringing that car to the U.S.

One other tip:Never buy a car imported by
Malcolm Bricklin.

Related this story before but:

Sittin' in the shop office one day, the three of us munchin' lunch. 300SL sittin' on the carpet 10' away, shop garage door is up, 140 Jag on the lift, a Rolls Shadow in the main doorway, Corniche right behind it... A woman comes into the office, looks around and asks: "Do you work on Yugos?"

The resultant immediate response apparently wasn't to her liking...

"WELL!!! You don't have to LAUGH at me!!"

feh. It was a gut reaction. Couldn't be helped. :jester:

For a joint that's supposed to be PC, y'all sure are doin' allot of hatin' up in here.

So, we can't talk about:

religion

politics

each other

vendors

ebay ads

but it's open season on Yugos.

(I can't even provide a stellar example of what they do right cause it's considered a hot button/ non PC topic.)

.....I wonder what the Ferrari guys say about us?

You don't want know, Billy. It would only hurt your feelin's.

I think it's because we can assume that there
aren't any Yugo owners who would view with this web-
site,or associate with people like us.

Us who, car people?

I can assure you there is no "us" here.

Now, ther is a bunch more "y'all" than me, but there is no "us".

Doug (all), please take what I say with a grain of salt.

I will have to admit, at one point in time, I had the preconcieved notion that British car owners were steotypicaly snobs. I have no idea why I believed this, I just thought they "should" be that way. I guess I may have met some snotty Jag owners before. I have no idea, but there is a preconcieved notion about British car owners out there. Seeing that all here own one, I doubt you've heard about it before. I have.

I came to this place, and I found out I'm wrong. Folks around here seem genuinly nice. A bunch of folks from allot of different backgrounds but the one thing everyone has in common, is a shared sense of class and civility, even if they don't like or agree with one another.

So, the idea comes up to join the local Britsh car club, and I think, "Man, I don't know." Once again, pre misconcieved ideas; lets call them predudices, come back up and I'm thinking that maybe these people won't be as friendly and accepting as myself. I am, of course, not only a resident of a rural area, but I'm driving the lowest form of MG sportscars there is, the rubber bumpered Midget. ( and the low compression one to boot!)

I go to a local meeting and low and behold, everyone is nice and everyonne has a good time. They don't care what you drive, just as long as you're there. I really enjoyed myself.

Time goes on and the New Orleans meet comes up. I go, but don't enter cause I'm driving a RB car that needs paint; thinking I will be "judged" for showing up with such. BOY, I was wrong!!! I was delighted to see other cars there that needed work. I'm proved wrong in my beliefs again.

Now, I get there and look around and figure out why so many people don't get me here (BCF), cause I'm VASTLY different in every aspect of my life. No big deal, we like cars and that's enough for me. Some of these cars, I personaly don't care for, but that's no big deal, as obviously I don't see eye to eye with 98% of the people present. These folks are bound to have different tastes than me.

So now this thread comes up, and I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit dissapointed. Sure, a joke once and a while is o.k, but I honestly expected more out of you guys. The repeated flogging of a car (or owner) that's "lesser than", seems like a behavior that I would have expected here in the past. That type of behavior is something I would expect from a sterotypical foreign car owner who's "better than" everyone else. It's you guys that showed me different. I'm following your example. YOU TAUGHT ME BETTER !!!!

Sure, they laughed at the Amphicar, and they now bring $125K.

Will a Yugo ever bring "respectible" money, who knows?

One things for sure, if I just joined this board, and saw a thread like this:

A.) I wouldn't be back

B.) I would have been assured I was dead right about sterotypical Britsh car owners.

Guys, y'all are better than this !!!!

If anything is mis-engineered, unreliable crap, it's the things we love. Who are we to point fingers and laugh???

Like I said, I wonder what the Ferrari guys say about "people like us"?

I'm ~SURE~ they wouldn't associate with "us".

Ooopps, there I go again !!!

Ah Billy, but we are. You see, the word "Yugo" is like a variable in math. So we are talking about religion and politics, just using the word Yugo as a variable. Kinda like Mad Libs.
