What do I use to paint filler neck?

My bugeye gas tank was long gone by the time I bought it. I could push my finger through the tank in three places. I ended up cutting off the filler neck and getting a later model gas tank. The filler neck had a lot of surface rust, but it is still very useable. My question is, what can I use to coat the filler neck that would not react with gasoline? I thought about trying powder coating. That I can do my self. I also thought about having it plated. The downside to that it is expensive, and it would be two months before I got it back. Has anyone had to deal with this before, and if so what did you use to coat the filler neck? Thanks for any input.

Rustolum should do it.

I'm with Jack.

I used Rustolum Professional High Performance Enamel glossy black from Home Depot.

Ha, I used the flat black stops rust type rustoleum after I blasted it all clean in a sand cabinet  That neck is the last place I would ever worry about rust or anything. I am just into overkill. That POR-15 is awesome stuff. I used it on lots of stuff after getting it cleaned and its just tough stuff and I like it even though its high. I went overboard on any place on the midget that I thought corrosion might try to come back. It might not be factory original but it will last, that was the way I built the car. I built it to drive and ride and handle good and do good on gas and last. Some places that had rust and I could not get to, I put por 15 on and later I had to use a grinder to get to the metal to weld in an extra plate or something.

An alternative to Jack's suggestion (also from Home Depot!) is Appliance Epoxy gloss black paint. That stuff is pretty tough and dries pretty darned hard (it does take a little longer to fully dry but worth it in MHO!).

Yea but I keep the black Rustolum on the shelf, lots of uses around here and whenever I take anything off Miss Agatha it gets a freshening.
