My bugeye gas tank was long gone by the time I bought it. I could push my finger through the tank in three places. I ended up cutting off the filler neck and getting a later model gas tank. The filler neck had a lot of surface rust, but it is still very useable. My question is, what can I use to coat the filler neck that would not react with gasoline? I thought about trying powder coating. That I can do my self. I also thought about having it plated. The downside to that it is expensive, and it would be two months before I got it back. Has anyone had to deal with this before, and if so what did you use to coat the filler neck? Thanks for any input.
