So, I've been waiting for 24 hours and finally realized that maybe I am the only crass materialist that cares about such things. (Don't tell my boss)

Was a sweater Christmas this year for everyone but, Santa also brought.

Bench Grinder
1/2 in Ratchet
Shop Gloves
Vice Grips
Mechanics Stethoscope
Pencil Torch
Various little things

will be playing later!

Hi J-P.

No toys here - too many medical and storm damage bills.

But we did have a fantastic dinner!

Smoked salmon and lemon on pumpernickel toast
Canada tourtiere (pork pie) with cranberry raisin sauce
Roast orange stuffed chicken
Roast potatoes and wild rice
Brussels sprouts with peanuts and nutmeg
Savory tomato pudding
Cheese cream and blueberries
Mince pies and whiskey sauce
Fruit and brandy cake
and various liquids before, during, and after

If I say that 2012 will *have* to be better than 2011, am I just tempting the gods?

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all!
Tom

Nah! Gonna be a great year...

...at least through Dec. 20.

This was Drew's (our first grandchild) first Christmas, and we baptized him Christmas Eve. They spent the night here and we celebrated with him Christmas morn.

Guess this one will go on record here!

Santa brought family and friends. We had over twenty guests during the day with two fantastic sit-down meals. Three grandchildren were here, and two of our three children, plus a phone call from child three from Afghanistan. Even some Jewish friends stopped by with their one-year old child to exchange gifts. It was a spectacular day of love, and now lots of cleanup as we prepare for the next wave of relatives this week...

No toys here, but we did have unseasonably warm weather here on the high plains.

A few goodies here on top of all the family. We also had a fantastic Lasagna dinner at my parents house with the whole crew.
I got
the Revell VW Samba bus 1:24 scale kit
"How to Keep Your VW Alive" repair manual
Brita filtered sports bottles (Water at work is nasty)
Milwaukee 18v Lithium Ion drill driver and 1/4" impact set (traded in my unused personal time pay to Santa for that one)
Beatles "Help/ I'm down" 45 record with T-shirt (WAY cool!)
Pirates, "On Stranger Tides" DVD
Muppet Show season 3 box set
"Shut The Box" game (Very old Dice game I first heard of at a living history event, and it's lots of fun)
Santa treated me VERY well this year.
I'm not a big materialist, Christmas is not about presents, but it's lots of fun to hear what everybody got.

Mary and I had agreed we got our presents early - me a new 27" iMac and her a new Bedroom Set that she wanted! So for Christmas we agreed to keep it pretty light and simple: Some new gloves and thermal's for me, a jacket and some smelly-stuff in a fancy box for her. Most of what was under the tree was for the kids:
A new Mountain bike for the youngest, an iPod touch for the daughter-in-law, and an iPad for our oldest (just back from Iraq)

A most excellent router. (I've never owned one).

A DVD highlighting various car factories.

Clothes and a pile of books.

I got her a wall-hanging, a brake/shear combination (for sheet metal), and a pile of books.

We had a great Beef Wellington, too.

Jean got me a welder for the shoppe; the MIL got me a new tool chest. Also got several books (Spitfire WWII warbirds, Battle of the Bulge, etc)

I found a cannon ball with fuser from a Civil War battle field in Alabama for Jean.

It was a good day.

big surprise was a new laptop, wireless router and wireless mouse. Kids knew we were looking so we'd be able to take it with us on our Fl. trips. has a webcam and all kind of gadgets. Our son spend the morning today teaching a couple geezers how to use this thing. Superfast and outstanding clarity. Also included was deal to sit it on with fans to keep it cool. My gift to me was a complete LT-1 set up with a 5 speed standard for my 39 Ford two door sedan project...with my wife's blessings. shes old...but shes also a keeper!!

Lets see what did I get?

I got enough $$ to buy a cheap cigar,
A roof over my head,
Hot & Cold running water,
Electricity when I flip a switch,
AND from the looks of things,
I am deffinetly not going hungry.

I like yours best, Dave! Matches mine to a T.

Zip, year two.

Well, actually, if you look under your name on the left you'll see you did get something for Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

Linda and I had the girls and their husbands over on 24 Dec. (see below). That was the best gift.

Also older daughter brought our two grandkids.....the younger grand child is just six weeks old.

My younger daughter will have twins in about a month, so next year we'll have ten people in this photo.

Went to 11 PM service and sang Joy To The World ~Here~ at the top of our lungs with about 1000 friends.

On Christmas, we visited an 95 year old friend at a nursing home. The on to Linda's folks (85 & 87) plus her twin sister and family. And the following day, we saw my Dad (85) along with my aunt (80). And visited most of my siblings and some nieces and nephews. Good times.

In terms of material goods, I finally got one of those aluminum race jacks (after dragging a huge, cast iron floor jack to races for the last 15 years). Also, finally got new tie down straps for the racer (one of my old straps is really frayed......dragged it all the way from Pittsburgh to NJ before I noticed it had come unhitched). And got a vibrating sander to replace the one that literally vibrated apart.
Linda got a Nook, a new router for her PC (so we can move it to a better place), gift cards and a bunch of clothes that she picked out ahead of time.

Santa brought me 70ft of crown molding and 4 gallons of paint, with instructions on where to apply it. Something not right about that. Was hoping for something else to hang on the wall.
