What critical spares should you carry?

What do BCF members carry as critical spares for their Spridgets? With little experiance in the marque I carry a cell phone, my AAA membership card and a credit card. What else should I have? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There had been a few threads on this awhile back. I think under the Austin Healey section. I did like one person's view - whatever you take that won't break.

Hoses, Wire, tape (electrical and duct), bulbs, a headlight, tire repair (bottle of ??? various brands) or tubless plugs, Tools=8mm/10mm/ adjustable/ screwdrivers/plyers/, flares, flashlight, MG Shop manual, , Master-Card and AAA. Plus whatever feels (or sounds) right at the moment... but the more organized and less adventurous would go by the link on the previous reply

i only carry water to drink while waiting for the tow truck). if i carried spares or tools invariably i wouldn't have what i need so i don't even bother now.

Moss catalog, cell phone, credit card...what else do you need? Whatever you put in the trunk in case of an emergency will not be what you need! I just finished a 4 month, 15,000 mile trip all over the US, Canada & Alaska in my RV towing my MGB (5,000 miles on it in addtion to the RV miles)....didn't carry anything...Moss can get it to you anywhere almost overnight!

Comfortable walking shoes?

Flares, thermal blanket, freeze dried food, survival guide ?? Lol

Seriously -- It's pretty darn hard to fix thing in the middle of the night and hard to anticipate (or you'd fix before you left ?) possible breakage. Cell Phone & AAA and "get to know your car" (fix the weak spots until you feel comfortable going on a long road trip).

Engine, Tranny, Rear axles, Fuse box, ............... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Only joking. Actually, other than the spare tire, about all I ever carry is maybe a spare set of points and a condenser. I can change those with the Lucas tool on my key chain.

I do have a "road trip spares" bag that holds a spare distributor ready to drop in, fuel pump, carb bits, accellerator cable, wheel bearing kit, spark plugs, and I always carry a spare axle bolted to the wheel well ever since I snapped one 3 hours from home.
Some basic tools, tape, wire, zip ties, and a few nuts and bolts.
And with that bag and spare axle, I have never needed to use it on my own car but it has rescued many others at meets or drives. They were happy I had the parts.
I just throw the bag into what ever LBC I am taking on the trip.

That's the "inner" wheel well (in the trunk). Axles are the "curse" of Spridgets. My spare is Zip-Tied in place in the trunk (for longer trips). Check out my post about the axle I just snapped (in the racer).

I saw the post, boy that was bad timing. Remember, if you carry a spare for something, that guarentees you won't need it;) Yeah the trunk up in the fender is about the only place I could thing of too. Good Idea.
