I was looking through an old copy of Road & Track magazine dated August 1967 and thought that some select classified ads might stir up some angst. I have posted links to photos where I could find them so that you can put faces with the names!

1956 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. This is not a restored car. It has been owned by us and maintained, but not modified....... ......Tires are nearly new Firestones and mileage is 40,000.$5250 firm!

Had enough yet? I hear the sound of grown men sobbing.

Ya certainly do.

I used to like you, Steve... :jester:

Okay, I was saving this one.....

Mercedes 300SLR. Immaculate, unique. Professionally designed and constructed permanent steel top (!! WHAT? !!). Numerous other custom appointments. Must see to appreciate. Need larger car. $5600.

'Course, back then, those dollar amounts were equally unreachable for most of us... :cryin:

You can stop anytime, now...

I can muck with the production of cheese here in Vermont, and your state will finally be recognised as a player in this field, if you just STOP!

Steve-
For tormenting us I'm hoping you get an itch that you can't reach in public

Steve,

It's fun to look thru the old magazines.Once in awhile I
see a familiar (or famous) name on the ad.And then there was in-
surance.I looke back when Shelby Mustangs were $2500 - insurance
was $1000+/year.
I like the one about the guy who called & asked about one
of the cars. "you had the Healy 3000 advertised in the June '67
issue of R&T,do you still have it?" Owner -"yes,I didn't sell it"
"Buyer" - "would you take $1500 for it?"

- Doug

In '68 my Dad bought our bug new for $1650, and that was stretch then.

Ah, so THAT's why that started itching. A curse is upon my house (other than the mortgage lender).
