What colour is my car?

According to Clausager, the 1970 model year had two blues, Bermuda Blue (which it is definately not) and Blue Royale (which appears to be too dark).
The car looks distinctively "Mineral Blue" but that colour was discontinued in 1969.
I really don't care what the colour is, Bermuda, Iris, Mineral, Midnight or Royale with cheese; would just like to know for sure......
I say Mineral, wife says Royale, please help me win.

Looks like Mineral Blue to me. I have a 68 GT that is the same color, although mine is a bit faded.
 
Baz, Go to https://www.teglerizer.com . Push the MG button and then look up paint colors. It's a nice site for MGs. The paint charts have color photos of the different years with the appropriate colors. The only thing wrong with this site is that he lists many colors were from 62 to 80. Only black covered all the years. Last year for mineral blue was 69. But that doesn't mean that your 70 could not be painted that color, especially if it's an early 70. I had an early 70 with a couple of 69 parts on it. An aluminum hood and windshield assembly. Looked like they were on it from the beginning.

I'd say mineral as well....I had a mineral blue 69 roadster back in the day...
 
Not to jump off topic but could you order an MG in a color that was not offered for the year you were buying it in but was offered a different year?

For myself, it would depend: Am I doing a period restoration, or am I buying it as a daily driver. Oh, and is the non-standard paint fugly? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

An educated guess but I would say that the factory would not be interested in or perhaps not even able to do so. Perhaps more expensive cars like Jaguar(maybe) and certainly RR but doubtful MG would even consider it.

Whenever the transition took place for each car year model (at one time it was rather easy as it was almost universally in the fall)in your case late 1969, a car could have some 1969 features including paint even though it is called a 1970 model.

In 1960, I ordered a new Healey 3000 directly from the factory in the UK. At that time, no special paint colors were offered for any British cars built for export. Prelisted factory colors only for the particular year ordered. Only a Rolls or Bently could be ordered with special paint, special everything. Even paint with real gold flakes in it, if you had a truckload of money and you were so inclined!?!? PJ
 
How come our wives were so good looking in 1960-1970 or so.

Saw that, Box - one of my all-time favorite cars. Was it yours? I'd love to have one of those, or an Olds Starfire of the same vintage - in truth, a '62.

Not a chance that your car is in reality a '69 that was tagged as a '70 because it didn't sell?
 
I don't think so Bill, it has a distinct bumper at the rear and production stamped 10/69 and the car number is consistent with a 70.
It's all for naught anyway, the wife looked at the paintwork closer than I did; where there are a couple of scratches, you can see a much darker blue beneath the "Mineral", and behind the heater on the bulkhead is a darker blue. It's had a repaint sometime in its life.
 
Well you know what we always say around here. The wife is right even when she is wrong.
 
Yeah Jack, I heard about a fellow who married a girl who's last name was Wright. He didn't know till later that her first name was Always! hehe.
