General TR What color is original for engine parts?

Doing some resto work on my '63 Herald, what is the correct original color for the engine block, valve cover and the generator? Some banana-brain tried to spry-paint these baby blue. In the car. Yerf.

Thanks,
Paul

My opinion: flat black, not glossy. Much easier to spot a leak on flat paint.
I don't know for the Herald, but for the TR3 and 4 most engine parts are semi gloss black. Not to be confused with flat black.

Original was gloss black, with gloss “in the day” not nearly as glossy as todays paint. The TR’s were marled by hand with red paint “TR3” on the intake side. I don’t know if Heralds had any markings?!?

It's actually a semi-flat black, not shiny but not flat if that makes any sense. The valve cover is a copper/gold color, I have no idea where you could find an original valve cover to match. Possibly someone out there could post a picture of an original? Hope this helps, got the information from a gent in Australia. PJ

I should have been more clear: I recognize the original post was regarding originality. My comment was on practical matters. I painted my bits (modern) gloss black, and find it hard to check for leaks.

Sorry for the confusion!
