Jaguar Cars North American can provide you with a Heritage certificate. (The guy who today owns my old high school Jag - the Tan one at the top of these pages - got one for that car). You would contact them at Jaguar Cars North American Archives, 555 MacArthur Blvd, Mahwah, NJ 07430
They charge a small fee, which is less if you belong to the national Jag club).

It cost me $40 to get my Heritage Certficate, which shows everything on the car when built, where and when shipped and first owner. Colors and all options purchased. Went to a framer and had it framed in oak, looks good. By the way Karen Miller was the Archivist and XK120 racer, just passed away, she will be missed. She showed me how close my Mark 1 was produced after the big fire, three weeks.

P.S. If you go to Amazon/Borders you'll find the author Porter or Skilleter and they have excellent reading with the VIN catalog for what was made where and the dates of all upgrades.

Yes. On the ETYPE it is on a plate on a little shelf on the right hand side under the bonnet. In that plate it shows "Car No." Engine No." "Body No." and "Gearbox No." The "Car No." is the Vin on these cars. The Car No. (Vin) on a Jaguar EType is much shorter than the usual 17 digit Vins we are used to seeing on todays American cars. My Vin (Car No.) for example is 1E13333
