I need a new battery. What is the group size or whatever (not so hip on battery lingo) so that I can just shop around by specs?

Tx.

Edit: Spellung

Pick up a battery box as well over in the fishing department just to keep acid in check.

Optima D51 yellow Top fits nicely.

I have moved my battery to the trunk. I would love to move my optima behind the heater box where the original is supposed to go. Am I understanding you correctly when you indicate you can get an Optima yellow top into the location behind the heater box? I have tried a couple of times it appeared the battery was just to wide.

OK, here's my silly question. I thought all batteries were sealed now. I've never had a battery issue with any other car, so why would I anticipate one with a new battery for Ms Triss?

You should not have an issue if it is a sealed battery. Just don't turn it upside down, it does have breathers except for the Optima which I understand is really sealed.

I also use an Optima though it is the 34 RedTop. It fits easily behind the heater box.

Dimensions of the two (if my sources are correct):

- D51 YellowTop: 9.31" X 5.06" X 8.94"
- 34 RedTop: 10.00" X 6.86" X 7.81"

Use the Yellow Top model D51 or D51R. It's easily at home in the space.

I had a RedTop Optima 35 but it was a quarter inch too wide to fit. I considered going to a trunk mount but figuring the price of the pieces that I wanted to use (aluminum box, shutoff, etc) it would cost me the price of the battery alone.

If I knew a 34 Redtop would fit, I would have went that route. Yellow tops generally run more $$$
