Well, it is that time of year again. What are your Triumph-related resolutions for 2009. (no weight loss goals here please - LOL).

Mine are;

#1 - Don't buy any more cars!

#2 - Get a TR6 ready for the SoCal vintage rallies in the spring. It can be ugly, but it's got to be reliable. Bonus points for being fast

#3 - Suck it up and rebuild some carbs, as in get off my butt and actually do it rather than thinking about it.

What are your?

Mine are simple this year.

From now until spring:

Avoid all contact with guys who make suggestions about how to spend more time working or money on the car with new projects.

Get the hardtop rack built and then get the top painted/sound deadened/headliner for next fall.

Install GP trailing arm kit sitting on desk for five weeks.

By now it's spring and then it will be driving time. Lot's of shows and weekend club road trips this year.

Do all of the rebuild projects that are starting to accumulate in my basement, like the spare trailing arms, polished fuel pumps and differential, when I'm tired of driving around.

Finally to invite BobbyD and Al over to RI to play golf on a nice summer day.

Hey Paul, That Wedge is still available!

Addendum to above:

Especially Don................

1. Do my best to make Brosky spend more of his money on his TR6
2. Live vicariously through Brosky
3. Finish my hardtop
4. Actually make it to Triumph show this year
5. Try not to start projects in the middle of driving season

Second addendum to above:

Block Shannon's posts starting tomorrow.

I silently battle this myself, but I'll try to leave my car alone and just drive it when nothing is really wrong with it. Hey, it happens.

I hope to get to a few things I've put off far too long on the Herald, like the minor welding needed on the chassis, and repairing the rear seat squab upholstery, and possibly replacing the steering rack gaiters.

Oh, and get myself and my son motivated enough to somehow make -- by May -- a running (if not show-worthy) GT6 convertible out of the current painted chassis and piles of parts and body all still needing work!

Get the car done and back on the road before the snow flies.

I only have:

1. Seat recovering and seat frame repair

2. Transmission Rebuild and conversion to O/D

3. Inspect and Rebuld Suspension as Needed

4. Re-doing all hydraulics

5. Rebuild carbs

6. Rebuild Fuel Pump

7. Paint Prep and Paint

8. Install new top

9. Install new rubber seals and chrome

10. Get most everything rechromed

11. Put it all back together

Should be a piece of cake--eh!

Only one:

Finish the frame up restoration of the 1959 TR3A that my son bought me a year ago in time to drive it in the spring - so he can finish the Camaro he put on hold to help me!

My car is driveable enough not to have big projects left to do (rats!) but I imagine the seat upholstery could be next on my list. When the weather warms up I'd like to take a loooong drive across the high desert and maybe down into canyon country (southern Utah mostly). I've got a spare trunk lid and a luggage rack I'd like to mount on it for that purpose.

Let's see:

1.Change out the slipping clutch on the TR4 (will be done today!)
2.Replace a tired timing chain/tensioner
3.Repaint the surrey backlight, for the fourth time after color sanding through the last topcoat. Install the dang thing.
4.Reclaim the garage from 2 TR3 project cars and the 1 TR4 project. Hide them from my wife in the storage unit.
5.Try not to get another end of year letter from Charles thanking me for being one of his top customers!
6.Drive the heck out of the TR4

Randy

Finish my off frame restoration, but I said that last year, and the year before, and...

1) Drive it a lot!
2) Finish the cockpit cappings so I can
3) finish the interior and trim so I can
4) finish putting on all the hardware to use the top and tonneau so I can
5) Drive it a lot!
6) Drive it some more!

Get it finished and back on the road again.
