What Are You Listening To?

One of my favourite songs from the 80's. Came on while I was driving home today - and the car radio says who/what is playing - all of which is to say that until today I didn't realize that Ronnie Spector sang the chorus.

In other news Ronnie Spector died last month.

Unmistakable the second I heard her sing.

For a bit of back story, the 1986 American Bandstand (lip sync-- ugh) version:

Watching a person at the top of their game.

Love the line: "I hear that quote." The guy must've been a child prodigy.

Somehow this came to mind. Unbidden:

And Tim Weisberg by himself.

Yesterday, I clicked on George Thorogood One Bourbom, One Scotch and One Beer. Decided to see where it came from. First recording is apparently Amos Milburn. Listened to that and some other things by Milburn (jazzy blues or bluesy jazz piano). Led to Arthur Crudup then Blind Blake doing a song called Police Dog Blues and into modern times with Jorma Kaukonen doing Police Dog Blues. I got Blind Blake from the Reacher TV shows. The show ain't so good, but its a door to some good blues music that doesn't involve the "usual suspects" in blues.

Just set my HiDef player on random shuffle (all songs, all genres). Just gonna jot down the first ten as they play:

1. A Beginning - The Beatles, Beatles Anthology 3 Disk 1
2. Penthouse Pauper - CCR, Bayou Country
3. Highways - Jeff Beck Group, The Jeff Beck Group
4. Fooling Around - Toni Price, Low Down and Up
5. For a million - Alphaville, First Harvest 1984-1992
6. Little Bitty Pretty One - Three Men and a Tenor, Land of the Giants
7. Haydn, Symphony #100 In G, H 1/100, "Military" - Allegretto - Barry Wordsworth, Barry Wordsworth: Capella Istropolitana
8. If I Fell - The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night
9. Lassie Come Home - Alphaville, First Harvest 1984-1992
10. Stay With Me (The Voice Performance) - Terry McDermott, The Complete Season 3 Collection (The Voice Performances)

Well, this was the very last thing I listened to.

And this is what I listened to just before that.

Detect a pattern?
No one can match Izzy singing "Over The Rainbow"! So talented and so loved by all who knew him. Very sad when he passed. :(

That was weird Yakko, but it lead me to this.

Right now, "The Celtic Women", Irish to be sure! Love the dancing too! Beautiful singing!
Also very pretty to look at, grin. :encouragement:
