What are these people smokin?

29K "for collectioner", and a rubber-bumper unit at that.

I suppose the stuff they smoke is legal in French Canada, eh?

EH?

Really, we legalized dat stuff?
Great, I can get much moneys for dat rusty Ford at my Brodders.

Maybe the deal is, you smoke some of this and the price looks way better.

Dave

4 speed manual + one electric overdrive (Spitfire)

So, not quite original.....

And why a new motor at 43,500 miles?

I wonder what this means:

mecanic, transmission A+,

And, under "engine"?

5.

It means you're about to get screwed.

I think it's true, in many cases, that these guys are trolling for suckers. Certainly, here in the LA area there are a number of dealers who regularly price cars in the range of 1.5 to 2 times the going price. Out here in Lotusland we have a goodly supply of people with far too much money and too little sense. Like, for example, entertainment industry types who want a cool car to show off in, and figure that you get one simply by going to a dealer and plunking down some cash. Duh.

Still, when asking prices get up to 5-10 times the going rate, the only explanation is utter carelessness in pricing. Even a cynic looking for a sucker wouldn't waste time trying to make that work.

After seeing a couple more examples of this over the past week I've come to the conclusion it's either trolling or it's someone who's been told he has to sell the car and doesn't really want to do it. It's just crazy IMHO.

I wonder, too, if some of these folks are just caught up in the current financial times, and see their cars as an (unrealistic) way to make ends meet. There's currently what looks like decent but not remarkable MK2 Sprite for sale here in Utah for 13k. I'd guess it's worth maybe 5 - 7k if it was really nice. Some folks just don't know, and look at their cars as a way to solve some financial problems.

I figure folks can ask whatever they'd like. They're just likely to be disappointed.

Right you are, however remember also that one on Ebay last week that everyone thought would not get much past 5K and it went for about $8500.

That's if it was a legitimate buyer...

Dare to dream, right?

Wow!!!

This guy is on drugs....I posted the pics of the engine bay on page one of this thread. The car was $16,000 then. Now he's asking $22,500?? What a complete moron. I agree, Rick...WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE SMOKING??? If anyone pays this price for this junk, I would also ask what they are high on....

I wouldn't call it junk, but I would say it is probably only a $4500-$5000 dollar car at best.

Hmmm...is he a moron...or a genius? :confuse: Maybe he knows exactly what his car is worth...all he has to do is convince one uninformed sucker that it's worth that much, and he's made a mint. He could then buy a whole fleet of Midgets...

Still entertaining offers. I've upped my price to $40,000. :jester: It's the best, most unique Midget in the world. Its radio was stolen by a world-famous jewel thief in Monte Carlo. Prove it wasn't.

True - I guess it only takes one.

Ah well - I guess it only takes one - and who knows maybe the seller paid way too much and doesn't know any better.

I've got a very original MK1 Midget with most of it's parts.
It's got original rusted out floors, lots of patina there!
I could let it go for $8K - though it would break my heart and of course I'd have to keep the parts I've already transferred to another car.

BWAHAHAHA!! I saw the updated ad on CL this morning and nearly spit my coffee out!
