What are these for

I'm sure the question has been asked before, but I did a search and couldn't find the answer.

What are the two threaded studs for, that protruding from the bottom of the floor beside the spring hanger on both side of the car (see photo)? I'm going to replace a small section of the floor, left hand side, and wondering if I need to include the threaded stud in the floor patch.

I asked the same question back in 2006. I got several "those aren't stock, they were added later" answers (wrong) and several "my car has them too" answers. No one reported ever having seen anything attached to them. My guess is that they were used in the manufacturing process and there's no reason to replace them.

Marv,
they are definitely original and I have another Bugeye with the same and nothing attached to them. I was also wondering if they were used during the manufacturing, maybe to hold the body to a jig.

Oh well, when I replace the small section of floor I think I will replace the stud, then someone else can ask the question in another 10 or 20 years time.

They are definitely stock, but I too have never found an answer. Even Colin Dodds could not give me an explanation. I suspect for something during the build process.
