T-Series What are the dimensions of a TD wheel?

What are the dimensions for the TD wheel?

15 inches in diameter seems pretty clear. I tried measuring the bolt pattern, and it seems to be 5 X 5.5", but perhaps it's a bit wider, and it might be something metric. Does anyone know the pattern?

How about the rim width or the back spacing?

Thanks,

Matt

I've got a dozen or so back at the house. I can measure later, but I'm sure by then you will have your response.

Think its closer to 4", maybe 4-1/2" than 5-1/2' but I'm all way across the country from my extra ones.

That 4" is measured from the inside edge of the rim to the inside edge of the rim (the portion of the wheel the tire occupies)....there was a time many moons ago when Moss offered aftermarket 'baby buggy' wheels in wider sizes (I've got a set of 5-1/2"-ers on my '63 MGB)....possibly you have a set of them.

That's a standard measurement. Rim width is always measured where the tire bead sits to avoid variances in rim lip shape and size.

You can have wider rims mounted to TD wheel centers, but be wary of running wide tires on these wheels. They aren't strong enough for wide, modern radials.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about rim width. Standard bolt pattern is measured from the bolt centers if I'm not mistaken.

Ok. I measured again as closely as I could. I came up with bolt spacing of 5 on 5.5". Nothing metric seems close. Also, all other wheel dimensions in the WSM are in inches, so I assume that the 5x5.5" bolt pattern is right. Is it?

Also, could someone clear up the 3/4" "inset" that's described in the workshop manual?

You've all missed the obvious.

ROUND.

Thanks, Jeff. I wasn't; I was measuring between bolt centers!

When I measure that way, I get something more like 5.7" or 145mm. Please help! Am I tweaked, or is something like that really the bolt spacing?

My apologies for forgetting about this. I will try and measure mine this evening.

Using the method above, 5-1/2" center-to-center -or- 5-3/4" center of top hole to bottom of bottom holes.

...& the width of the wheel is 4-1/4", inside bead to inside bead.

Well, center to center is 5-1/2"

Edit: this is better than what I tried to describe: https://www.midatlanticmotorsport.com/bolt_circles.htm
Thanks, Steve. The TD's spacing is off that chart at 3 and 9/16", so it's definitely more than 5.5".

Thank you, Tony. The measurement does seem to be something like 5 and 3/4". I just want to make sure it isn't something metric like 145mm or 150mm.

I apologize for taking up two pages with this simple question!
