What and when was your first rock concert?

1970 saw Rod Stewart and the Faces in Wintershaffen, Switzerland just a couple of miles from my high-school. It was weird when we were right by the stage ("festival seating") and one of the guys was yelling obscenities at the crowd and laughing saying "None of you a-holes can understand us anyway!!". A few of us Gringos could.

Not my "first" concert, but I saw them that same year in Pittsburgh (Syria Mosque for the natives  )...AWESOME!!!! They wheeled Ginger Baker out onto the stage in a coffin, on a hand-truck!!

What I remember most was the incredible wall of amplifiers and speakers...

tony, dont get me wrong i like these groups very much and yes they are/were concerts but i dont know if the classics 4, or the 4 seasons music etc, could be called ..."rock"????...let alone "classic rock", still we enjoy the music, :confuse:

I saw the Stones and the Who at the Cap Center in the late 70's early 80's. Different concerts...

The Who didn't happen to be the 76-78 sometime did it?

I think it was around 1978.

I saw them 4 times in the 70's; twice with Moon and twice after. Excellent...

upper level - quite a ways back - still a great time!! We had a store in the New Carrolton Mall at the time, traded product for tickets, so couldn't complain about seat location! :yesnod:

I traded for product with... never mind

Ones I remember include:
Ten Years After, Fleetwood Mac (with Peter Green), Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blood Rock, Jethro Tull, Donovan, Roxy Music, Flo & Eddie, Yes, Spirit, Bob Seger, Cat Stevens, Savoy Brown, Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes, The Frost, Bob Dylan, The Band, Frijid Pink, Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, BB King, others that don't come to mind.

Back then tickets were $3.50 to $6.00.
If I could have all that money back, I could buy a nice set of Yokohama's!

Back in the early '70's - Van Morrison.
A few of us ended up at the local University,
& while watching through the windows on the doors,
noticed someone pushing tickets thru the door.We
got in free, but I got really tired of being pushed
by the people behind us who were dancing around.
We got to see The Carpenters (in Lake Tahoe),
on our Honeymoon (1978).Karen's voice was INCREDIBLE!
We had $5 to get home on.

& nowadays, I pay $150 to go to a Do-Wop concert with all the old performers doing their hit songs!

Heck, we paid $55 apiece for tickets to take my grandson to "Disney on Ice" tomorrow.
