Doc's posting about the Wall got me thinking. When and what was your first rock concert? As one of the youngins in this group, I have to admit that my first concert was in 1983. I saw the Ramones at the Flynn Theater in Burlington Vermont. I was 15. While my music tastes have progressed somewhat, I recently made a Ramones playlist on my iPod. Man what those cats could do with three chords...
 
The Animals - City Park Stadium, New Orleans, 1968 - 18 years old.

Though I did see John Fred and the Playboys at LSU the year before. And a regional band, The Uniques - Joe Stampley. Great sound, they had!
 
I rode the Rockin' Roller Coaster at Disney World a few times. That's about as close as I want to get to one too :laugh: :wink:
 
In 1966-67, Jay and the Techniques honored their contracts for several High School performances at dances at my HS even after "Apple Peaches Pumpkin Pie" hit the charts. It may have helped that their drummer graduated from our school the previous year. That same year I saw the Young Rascals at the Lambertville Music Circus too.
 
May, 1965, The Rolling Stones in Fresno CA. Almost didn't go because they weren't The Beatles.....never did get to see them live.

April, 1969, The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Four rows back from a revolving stage. I was amazed. I was 19.
 
I am pretty sure that it was Bad Company @ Madison Square Garden in 1975.

Rolling Stones in Boston I believe in 1965. Couldn't have been more then a couple of thousand people there...maybe less. It wasn't a highlight of my life at the time, so some my recollections are foggy. During my days at Northeastern Univ., I much preferred the ambiance of a small club called the Jazz Workshop that featured the likes of John Coltrane and the Modern Jazz Quartet. Up close and personal...you could chat and share a drink with them at the bar between sets. :smile:
 
What constitutes a "rock concert"? My first was in the Bradford, Pa. high school gym :rolleyes: ...the Four Seasons...then I saw the Eisley Bros. (Jimi played backup!) :laugh: but my first "real" Rock Concert was the Jefferson Airplane at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, 1965 :banana: :banana: :banana:
 
Mine was also either the Four Seasons, the Classics Four or those guys who sang about the guy "who could never return"...riding a train, he was
 
If I recall correctly that would have been the Classics Four and the song was The MTA, Tony :thumbsup:
 
The song MTA was done by the Kingston Trio. released in 59 i believe.

Emerson Lake and Palmer, Brighton Dome UK - November 1972; ticket cost 90 pence. The Tarkus shot polystyrene pellets out of its guns, which got into the innards of Emerson's piano, causing everything to stop while they vacuumed it out. Still got the concert programme.
 
Grateful Dead,Jefferson Airplane,Santana at the Filmore East NYC 1968 tickets were $9.00 they played from 9pm till almost dawn quite an experience.

I think the first concert I ever attended was Three Dog Night in Devner, Co. But I could be wrong - somewhere around that same period I saw Jimmi Hendrix Experience at Mile High Stadium and also the Doobie Brothers.
