A 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K just sold for $11.77M at Pebble Beach.

The car has quite a story.

In this 1978 letter, the original owner (Baroness Gisela von Krieger, then living in Switzerland) makes some interesting comments on her Stutz Bearcat and her Mercedes, including a reference to the garage it was stored in.

We can all handle the zeros, I'll give them as many as they want. It's the 11.77 on the front that I see as the problem...
