Mitsy has lost faith in Diesela as her daily, more due to the fact she may need to mount up at a moment's notice and drive down to her folks' place in Miami. Her dad is fading rather alarmingly.
She started on a hunt for a replacement, Craig's List and other local on-line ads... budget dictated a used car, my only request was that she find "Grandma's Camry." Well after a month or so, every one we'd see was either already sold or in such poor nick I'd not touch it. Last Monday she came across one still available, so we made arrangement to go look at it. 2002 LE version. On line less than an hour. White, spotless interior, 180K miles. Turns out it wasn't "Grandma" but an engineer(!) from China. Single owner and a pile of maintenance records over an inch thick! Everything documented from tire rotation and oil services to any repairs done. Made the deal and now we have "MAI TOY" in the group. Factory shop manuals are on their way and even though I've been into a few of them owned by friends, this is the first non-euro car in our stable and I want "the horse's mouth" for anything I may need to do to it. Now to find a scanner for it... wish us luck, she's on her way to Miami as I type.
