Went To Auburn Cruise Night and met an Aussie who just bought a 54 to take back home.

Auburn Cruise night (Auburn, CA) is a nice event. Open to cars 75 or so or older. You just park on the street and gawk at all the cars that come. Many Hot rods, but also lots of Detroit Iron. Very few British cars last night (two that I saw). One our Healey. A guy stopped by from Australia who is over to visit his brother and pick up a 54 Nasty Boy to take back to Australia. A pleasure to talk to him. In fact, Sitting by your car, you get lots of people who come to ask questions about the car and say "I used to own". I was parked between two large Detroit iron and people would not see the car till they were right in front of it, but they stopped to look.

Just down the road from you there is a monthly cruise night in Winters, CA. I forget which day of the month it is but if they are still doing it it would be on the town web site. I went one night several years ago with my BN2 and all of the nose in parking spaces we filled with american muscle (not that there is anything wrong with that) and as I drove down the street with my wife we both got the feeling that it might have been good that there was no place to park. A couple of heads turned, but nobody showed any real interest and we cruised on through and went home. I did hear one person say to his companion "what is that thing". I suppose that might have had something to do with my exit. At other venues I've had experiences more akin to your s at Auburn. Maybe it was my timing (no pun intended). I didn't see any cars built outside the US.
