Spent the first two days learning how to pronounce it.Not a place
I'd planned on going to,but the Wife's been missing the ocean since we
moved here.Didn't see one British car, just appliances.
It's right next to Wallops Island, where NASA launches rockets.Part
of the Eastern Shore, just South of Maryland. They have wild ponies that
roam Assateague Island, which is just East of there,& on the ocean.
Kind of a blah seacoast (just sand & ocean),& too many people.

From there,we went to Harpers Ferry,West Virginia,& spent two days there.
Amazing how much time you can spend in a small area like that.I DID see a GT6
going the other way (white, with black stripes).
When we were getting ready to leave the parking lot at the depot,I pulled
our car out to let a Miata driver in.Briefly talked to the guy,who told me that he
also had a TR6.

The last picture was of a cool old hotel above Harpers Ferry that was falling down,
with a great view of the river.Sad to see.
On the way back,we drove Skyline Drive from Front Royal,VA to Waynesboro,VA.
It's a continuation of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took the Wif's Ford Fusion, but would have
been nicer in the Midget or Miata, but no room for much of anything,& no A/C.

Doug - really enjoy the photos. Were there many "tourists" in those areas? Looks pretty deserted. Sad how we often ignore and forget places that aren't on the interstate routes.

What's that "table rock"?

Great pics! though I will never use the words blah & seacoast in the same sentence (except this one time of course) :D

We got lucky with the lack of huge crowds,& the weather wasn't
overly hot.In another week or two it'll be a different story.
That's Jefferson Rock.Thomas Jefferson saw this,& commented
about it & the great views from it.The legs were put there to stabilize
it between 1855 & 1860.
We only missed him by about 138 years.

The pictures are just "point & shoot".My Wife has
the "Good" camera,& takes much better pictures, but
I don't have the patience to.

It WAS a great hotel at one time, but collapsing now.I saw it in a video,
and after talking to a few people, was able to drive up to it.Great view from up
there.It's the fourth picture.
There was a security guard parked in the road.I asked for permission
to walk on the grounds (outside of the fenced off area,& she gave it to me.

There were ponies on Assateague Island, just East of Chincoteague.
We saw them from the road,& on the tour boat we went on,at a distance.
Seems that people in boats came up quickly,& spooked them off.

Thanks, I think I stayed there back in '88 or early '89.
I was amazed how small a building John Brown made his stand in. Considering how many soldiers were sent against him.

I lived in VA for the better part of three years a couple blocks from Buckroe Beach in the early '70's, would roam all over the eastern part of the state. Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Richmond. A lot to see in the Tidewater region. Back then, we would take one of the MG's to Williamsburg often, the place was unrestricted and we were free to roam at will in the shops and buildings. And in Newport News (get THAT pronunciation : "Newpertnews") there is now what has grown into the "Mariners' Museum." When we were there it was a few small exhibits in glass aquarium cases in an old house. And they were soliciting donations.

My brother lived in Charlottesville for many years before his death last month. I drove the Skyline Drive several times. Slow going, but great views. Harpers Ferry looked like a ghost town when I saw it back in the late 1950s. I was visiting a buddy at Ft. Detrick MD.

At least you got away for a trip, something I feel like I need... And just to be fair, I rarely see random British cars in my wanderings, but then I live in hinterland where all the collectors love their American iron far more...

I tend to head east onto the prairies, where I'm hanging out with cows, and driving gravel roads... :p

More cows than traffic :ROFLMAO:
