Or a case of "too much money"!!
 
Either way, just so easy to end up with a crumpled fender with the two of them standing there considering one, that the sheet metal below them is curved so will want to bow out and two, the only force holding it is the back of the wheel well and the side where both lips meet the body. Even when young and skinny, wouldn't find me doing that...
 
In the movie 52 pickup, Roy Scheider drives a beautiful Blue 65 Type (looks like my 67) which get's blown to pieces at the end of the movie. (Pretty sure they had a "stand in" for the actual explosion scene).
 
On the show emergency they always give victims and inject of ringers lactate and transport as soon as possible.
 
Yea, I assume most "wrecked" cars on tv and in the movies are either already wrecked if you don't see a complete scene of a crash and result, or are damaged and cosmetically made to look ok.
